freesh avokadoo(dle)

Hey there! I’m Astralis Snee (they/them), a Chilean-Italian artist currently living in Canada with the love of my life, doing what has always been at the core of who I am. Art has been a constant companion in my life—something I couldn’t set aside, even when I explored other paths. Growing up, I was encouraged to choose more practical routes, which led me to study biology and literature at university. While those subjects were fascinating, nothing ever resonated with me the way art has since always.Living with ADHD, my curiosity often pulls me in many directions, but my sketchbook and pencil (whether digital or traditional) are always there to help me return to what I love most. While I’m known for my fanart, my creative process—regardless of where the inspiration comes from—reflects the thoughts and emotions I’m working through. Each piece, even if inspired by existing works, becomes a way for me to make sense of my experiences and create something that feels meaningful.Art is so beautifully diverse—what speaks to one person may not speak to another, and that’s completely okay. I’d love for you to explore my creations, learn a bit about my process, or reach out if you’d like to chat, collaborate, or share your thoughts. Whether my work resonates with you or simply piques your curiosity, I’m just happy for the chance to connect.Thank you so much for visiting! I hope you find something here that speaks to you and feel inspired to engage in whatever way feels right for you.

(And yes! My artistic alias is thanks to that avocado vine!)

procreate essentials

If you’re from the Nicola Valley in BC, Canada, you can sign up for digital art classes, made possible by the Nicola Valley Arts Council, where I volunteer.I’ve set up a temporary website to share more about digital art beyond Procreate, and where you can find upcoming class dates. You can also visit the NVCAC Programs section (choose your age group from the main menu) to stay updated and explore other fun courses. We offer classes for both teens and adults, so feel free to share with friends and family. The NVCAC provides 5 iPads for each class, so you don’t need to worry about materials—just bring your enthusiasm and creativity!

Make Yourself at Home!

Thanks to fellow artist Struwwelart and his shared anecdotes on his own blog, I started to reminisce about the olden days of the web, when blogs of all kinds (with hundreds of customizations from the cursor to the silly GIF dividers) would invade every corner.
And it felt safe, cozy, messy—and, despite its digital nature, real and human.
With the rapid evolution that social media platforms experienced and their invasive narrative of a normative aesthetic taking precedence over everything else, we've lost those corners that allowed us to dive a bit deeper into the lives of strangers, without unnecessary embelishment, where by learning about others maybe we were able to understand our own life a bit better. And so, here I am, wanting to share with you a bit more than just trending hashtags and catchy captions, as I so often do on social media myself. I've created this space in hopes of connecting and reclaiming what, at least as the internet dinosaur I am, I feel got taken away from me along the way.

Inspiration for my latest illustration

Tuesday 25th of February, 2025

This illustration was supposed to be an anniversary gift back in December for my spouse, but life got busy as it tends to do, so my illustration ended up being an early Valentine's gift!To understand the choice of characters in my illustrations let me tell you that he loves Pokémon! He has experienced the Pokémon world through gaming since he was a kid, while I did through the anime. But thanks to him, I started to play as well, and a game we both love to tears is Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky. We parallel played until I finished the game, and I understood why he loves Chatot so much—birds are so silly, and they cannot escape silliness even in the Pokémon Universe! While playing that game, i connected instead with Bulbasaur, my favorite starter (Evan and his battalion of Squirtle plushies disagree), and unexpectedly, thanks to Pokémon Violet (while my spouse played Scarlet), I discovered that Pawmot is my favorite Pokémon!Pokémon is something that helps us connect and unwind, but my illustration was also based on the notion that we could be living in Canada with our two pups, or in the Pokémon World with countless Pokémon, or at the bottom of the ocean as microorganisms—but we would always find each other and be happy.I have no doubt that God brought us together and that God always would because he has blessed us as soulmates. Life is so beautiful by his side...I hope my illustration managed to convey how much joy I feel next to him!
